Welcome to the web site of the Flying Yankee Restoration Group, Inc., the official web site of the Flying Yankee and the Flying Yankee restoration. After 40 years of inactivity and neglect, an icon of American ingenuity and railroad history is again poised to return to service.

The Flying Yankee is one of only three 3-car, diesel-electric streamliners of its type ever built. After nearly seven years of disassembly, re-engineering, fabrication and rebuilding, Phase I of the restoration was completed in the fall of 2004 and the Flying Yankee is entering Phase II of the lengthy restoration process.

However, in order to complete this restoration, we need your financial support. We're currently seeking underwriters to support this enterprise - those with a passion for history and as well as a passion that goes far beyond simple preservation, to that of understanding the necessity for contemporary society to learn from experiencing history first-hand.
